BUSTED! at the Knit Knot Tree in Yellow Springs, Ohio

Well, I guess it was inevitable...a big ol' bodacious Bra traveling around all by herself was bound to attract the attention of The Authorities sooner or later!
But who'da thunk I'd ever end up getting BUSTED
for making a public spectacle of myself in peaceful Yellow Springs, Ohio?
Certainly not me! But, here's how it all went down...

I was in Yellow Springs yesterday to check out a
unique art exhibit I'd read about on the Internet....
My Chaperon, Esqueleta (a very old but respected local artist) hosted a little cocktail party in my honor which was attended by several other local celeBRAties...But then Esqueleta (being a big old party pooper) started resenting all the attention I was getting (especially from a cute little bra-ling named Vicky)....
So she broke up the party and made me help her with her knitting!
Hmphf!...I did not think being a yarn holder was very becoming of one
so bodacious as I... ...so Vicky and I decided to ditch the ol' bag of bones and skipped off to see
what I came here for in the 1st place...the famous Knit Knot Tree!
Woo-Hoo! It was SPECTACULAR!!! I'd read about the Knit Knot Tree on the artist's blogs Jafabrit's Art and JafaGirlArt, and was so captivated by it's beauty, I just had to come and see it for myself! And as I hung upon the brightly colored tree branches, I felt inspired to release my own creativity...as well as my inhibitions...and so - I just let it ALL hang out!
Apparently this was quite entertaining for the local residents, as they were lining up just to get a gander at this wild and crazy bra hanging upon their tree...even Marco Comegys, Yellow Springs' famous local bra model, stopped by to have his picture taken with me!
But then....
I guess things got a bit too rowdy and I was BUSTED
for "wild flirtation with the local men" and being a "public nuisance"!
Oh the humiliation!
Luckily, the Police Chief let me off with only a stern warning
to "control myself"...
...then he stamped my passport to ensure I'd have a permanent record
of my very wild and breastly day in Yellow Springs, Ohio!
The artists/creators of the now FAMOUS KNIT KNOT TREE in Yellow Springs, Ohio are Corinne Bayraktaroglu and Nancy Mellon. They were inspired to start this project by a group of graffiti knitters, called Knitta, who tag inner cities with vibrant, stitched works of art. Corrine, Nancy, and the Tree all have become local celeBRAties in their own right - please read more about the Knit Knot Tree here and here, and see more amazing examples of other tree sweaters here and here!

And in case you're wondering
Why a Knit Knot Tree?
Here's what Corrine says:
"Well it's simple really.
Because we can, because it's fun,
because it makes people smile,
because it brightens up a dreary winter's day,
because children go ooooooh!aaaaaaaah!
because!!!!!! Life is too short to be getting yer knickers in a knot!"

How 'bout a little boost?

"Life is too short to be getting yer knickers in a knot!"

How true and is applicable to other things as well.

I'm sorry you were pulled by the fuzz - it must have been painful.

Undaunted said...

Lol! I've not heard that one before Daddy Papersurfer!

Ooh Olga, what an awful experience for you! Were you being searched in that photo of you spread out on the car?

Undaunted - Yeah, they said "Spread 'em Olga!" - so I did.
~Olga

Jafabrit - Getting BUSTED was just another exciting adventure in the life of a Traveling Bra! And totally worth it in order to hang upon your bee-yoooo-tiful tree! I'd do it again in a heartbeat!
~Olga

Hungry and Crusty - Good advice! But if I'm gonna be a professional globetrotter, I'll just have to learn to roll with the punches (& avoid the cops!)

Its always a thrill to follow your travels and this was about the top of the cream - this is WonderBra!

What a great idea. I've been in contact with the Minister of Agriculture in Norway about this and they welcome you next winter to bring your friend for another Knit Knot Tree project ;-)

Excellent, I don't know what's cooler, warmly dressed trees or cops letting you drape underwear on their squad.

Well, she did have a previous close call with some of Scottsdale's finest. Apparently, Olga's "tail lights" were out. She doesn't really worry about those too much, just her "head lights." Luckily, she got off without even a "fix it" ticket:)

With that slender figure and fine bone structure, Esqueleta would make for a fine super-model.

Claire said...

I think this has been my favourite post so far, but it makes me even more gutted about the ruddy llamas now!

I shall make you very very jealous with my post of this weekends upcoming adventures!

Olga, the Traveling Bra said...

I dunno Lord Likely - I think Esqueleta is TOO thin..I mean, she's got that gaunt, hollow-eyed look and for Gawds Sake! - her pubic bones are showing!
I like 'em with more meat on their bones!
~Olga

Oh Claire - I WISH I could be with you and your ruddy Llamas this weekend, realllllly I do! I promise I will make it up to you! Try to have fun without me...& don't let the Llamas bite you! Or Willie!

I just found your blog and love it. Great sense of humor, where did you ever come up with the idea? Is this a young bra or an experienced one? Must be experienced because it seems to be having too much fun with life to be self absorbed or self conscious as a younger model can be. Steve Kirk blogs on aging at www.theperfectsense.com.

This was my favorite line I did not think being a yarn holder was very becoming of one
so bodacious as I...
until...you met the police car and then I was sitting on the edge of my pencil skirt just waiting for the dire results I knew would come.

And you didn't disappoint! Soooo funny. A yarn tree?
